Gautreauxs take Family of the Year honors

The Carroll A. Badeaux Knights of Columbus Council 3054 and Holy Savior Catholic Church in Lockport, have announced that two of their members/parishioners, Stacey and Julie Gautreaux, have been awarded the Knights of Columbus Family of the Year Award for the State of Louisiana, an extremely great honor for them, the Lockport KCs, and Holy Savior.

Stacey and Julie reside in Lockport and are the parents of three children, Kristy Bourgeois, Jason Gautreaux, and Jada Gautreaux. They have five grandchildren, Kylerlynn Marie Bourgeois, Dryden Paul Bourgeois, Sophie Grace Gautreaux, Ezrah Jane Bourgeois, and Brookelyn Faith Gautreaux.

Within the Knights of Columbus 3054 organization, Stacey was the Knight of the Month for December, Julie was the Sister of the Month for the Kaycee Auxiliary in October, and Stacey and Julie were the Family of the Month for June. Stacey assisted Fr. John, Holy Savior pastor, at the Knights of Columbus Memorial Mass as altar server and Eucharist Minister, while wife Julie was the lector and Eucharist Minister.

Previous to this Family of the Year award from the state, Stacey and Julie had also been chosen as the 2015-2016 Culture of Life winners. They received this award because of their work with the Baby Bottle Campaign, Crossroads Pregnancy Center, Eucharist processions in and around church, and pro-life rosaries after mass on the first Saturday of each month.

Stacey and Julie serve Holy Savior Catholic Church in many ways. Stacey attends daily mass when work permits, Julie attends all daily masses, and both attend every mass on the weekends. Both also serve at funerals as a lector, Eucharist Minister, and altar server. They oversee the liturgy for the church, assist for weddings and baptisms when they are available, and help in setting up and picking up after all masses that they attend.

Stacey is also the 11th grade confirmation class teacher. He oversees all high masses under the priest’s directions. Julie teaches 10th grade CCD, and leads the rosary before 7 a.m. mass every Sunday.
Stacey and Julie are also great assets to their community. Stacey cuts the grass for the Heart of Jesus Dominican nuns every week, and Julie assists there with yard work.

Both bring parishioners to mass that cannot drive themselves or have no other means of transportation. They deliver Knights of Columbus and/or Holy Savior Lenten meals to the elderly and homebound. They frequently visit the nursing homes and hospitals, and they bring communion to the homebound.

Both feel that one of the greatest gifts that they have received is the opportunity to pray the rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet with the sick, the elderly, and the dying.

Stacey and Julie are most deserving of the honor of receiving the state honor of Family of the Year and are congratulated on this significant award.
