Shortly after 8 p.m. Monday, October 15, Thibodaux Police officers responded to the 300 block of Dove Lane, in Thibodaux, in reference to a report of gunshots being fired.
When deputies arrived they discovered the driver of a vehicle, 20-year-old Alex Morena of Galliano, was found deceased from a suspected gunshot wound.
A passenger who had fled the scene on foot was later found, after notifying police via phone that he too was shot while inside the vehicle. The passenger sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to a local hospital, to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The passenger’s identity is being withheld in attempt to not jeopardize the investigation.
On Tuesday afternoon, October 16, at approximately 2:32 p.m. members of the Thibodaux Police Department’s Immediate Response Team executed a search warrant at 1702 S. Barbier Avenue in Thibodaux, where they believed the shooting suspect to be.
The investigation led detectives to link Tyrick Hills, 19, as a suspect in the case. Hill was apprehended on the scene without incident and was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center, where he is being held on a $1,500,000 bond.
Since then, three more arrests have been made in connection with the homicide, Ron Brown, 18, of 305 Bobby Street, Thibodaux, is charged with Second Degree Murder & Attempted Second Degree Murder, bond amount is $1,500,000; Saharold Holmes, 19, 1300 Ridgefield Ave., Apartment 812, Thibodaux, is charged with Second Degree Murder & Attempted Second Degree Murder, bond amount is $1,500,000; and Tandell Azema, 20, 1403 Eagle Drive, Thibodaux, charged with Second Degree Murder & Attempted Second Degree Murder, bond amount is also $1,500,000.
The three suspects were located in different areas inside the City of Thibodaux where they were subsequently arrested without incident and later transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center, where they remain.
Police are seeking another suspect identified as Kevon Southall, 22, of 317 Daralyn Drive, Houma.
Southall is also wanted for Second Degree Murder & Attempted Second Degree Murder and has a bond amount of $2,000,000.
