Galliano man admits to sexual conduct with three juveniles

Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre and Golden Meadow Chief of Police Reggie Pitre announced the arrest of a Galliano man for engaging in sexual conduct with three juveniles. Joseph Duplantis IV, 27, was arrested on Friday and admitted to his involvement in the crimes.

Last week, officers with the Golden Meadow Police Department responded to a complaint where a 27-year-old male allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a juvenile. The officers contacted juvenile detectives with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office to investigate the claims.

Through the investigation detectives learned Joseph Duplantis had engaged in sexual conduct with three juveniles over a four-year period. Following their investigation, detectives obtained warrants for Duplantis' arrest.

On Friday, February 6, detectives made contact with Duplantis at his residence, and he was taken into custody without incident. During questioning, Duplantis admitted to his involvement in the crimes. He was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where he was booked on warrants for aggravated rape, molestation of a juvenile, and indecent behavior with a juvenile.

He is being held in lieu of $250,000 bond as set by Judge Christopher J. Boudreaux.

Chief Pitre said, "These are horrendous crimes, and I hope he is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. These young victims have suffered unspeakable harm, but I applaud their braveness to come forward to help bring this criminal to justice."

Sheriff Webre echoed Chief Pitre's comments. "Most people cannot fathom something like this occurring within our community, nor would they want to," said Sheriff Webre. "I, too, thank the victims for their courage to come forward to help put this man behind bars to prevent him from victimizing others."
