Fourchon Oilman’s Association Donates more than $108,000 To Local School & Organizations

The Fourchon Oilman’s Association, Inc. has announced the awarding of $108,500 in grant awards to 24 local schools and organizations in the parishes of Lafourche and Terrebonne.

The grant awards were announced during a presentation December 10, at the Greater Lafourche Port Commission Administrative Office in Galliano.

Representatives from each school and organization were present to accept their grant awards.

The association awarded $5,000 to several organizations for various projects. Those organizations included the Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program, Bayou Civic Club (Larose Civic Center), Dominican Monastery of the Heart of Jesus, South Central Industrial Association's 'Work It!' Program, Friends for Traditional La. Boat Building, Friends of Special Citizens, We Can All Ring, and Hope Extreme.

Several Lafourche and Terrebonne public and private schools also received $5,000 awards. Those included Cut Off Elementary, Golden Meadow Middle School, Lockport Middle School, South Lafourche High School, West Thibodaux Middle School, and Golden Meadow Upper Elementary. Private school receiving the $5,000 award included Holy Rosary Catholic School, Houma Christian School, St. Francis de Sales Cathedral School, St. Gregory Catholic School, and St. Mary Nativity Catholic School.

Fraternus of South Lafourche, Lafourche 4-H Foundation, Les Reflections du Bayou, and the South Louisiana Wetlands Discovery Center were each awarded $2,500 for various projects. Additionally, the V. H. Boudreaux Senior Center was awarded $3,500.

These Lafourche and Terrebonne schools and organizations applied for the grant through the association.

In 2012, the Fourchon Oilman’s Association donated over $97,000 to 30 local schools and organizations.

The Fourchon Oilman’s Association, Inc. was established in 2011 by a group of oil and gas industry professionals to utilize the resources of their respective industries in conjunction with Port Fourchon to foster goodwill throughout the surrounding communities.

An invitational fishing tournament is held annually to help raise money.
