Ernest “Popee” Eymard, 91, a native of Golden Meadow and a resident of Galliano, passed away on Thursday, November 24. Visitation was held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church on Saturday, November 26 from 10 a.m. until funeral time. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with burial followed in the church cemetery.
“Popee” is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lovinia Gisclair Eymard; daughter, Emily Eymard (Sterling “Penny”) Robichaux; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
“Popee” was preceded in death by his parents, Drozen and Zulma Rhode Eymard; son, Emery Eymard; brothers, Sidney, Louis, Robert and Irvin Eymard; sisters, Blanche Terrebonne, Rose Galjour, Louise Cheramie, Viola Charpentier and Leola Eymard.
“Popee” was a K of C member, a member of the Holy Name Society, an Army Veteran. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
