A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, January 8 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Golden Meadow for Elvis “Al” Chabert, 93, a native of Cut Off and resident of Golden Meadow, who passed away on January 4, 2016.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. service at the church with burial at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Golden Meadow.
He is survived by sons, Philip M. Chabert (Lynette), Kenneth J. Chabert (Kathy), Drake J. Chabert (Andrea); grandchildren, Philip M. Chabert Jr. (Lacy), Guy Chabert (Lacie), Jill Chabert, Lance Chabert and Faith Chabert; great grandchildren, Jack Chabert and Payton Brantley; sisters, Amelia Pitre, Vivian Mayet, Nina Bourg, and Dora Curole.
He was preceded in death by wife, Lena Jane St. Pierre Chabert; parents, Charles L. Chabert and Ellia Terrebonne Chabert; step son, Dennis Falgout; brother, Edwis Chabert.
Mr. Chabert was a member of the Golden Meadow Fire Dept., several veteran organizations, and several church organizations. He was a U.S. Navy W.W. II veteran and a retiree of Texaco.
