Election Saturday to decide port seat, tax renewal
Voters are asked to go to the polls Saturday to decide a new port commissioner, a new councilman, and a tax renewal.
Only voters in the Tenth Ward will choose a new member to serve on the Greater Lafourche Port Commission board. Voters will decide between Rodney Gisclair, Sr., R-Cut Off, and Jimmy “T-Jim” Lafont, R-Cut Off.
Tenth Ward voters only will also decide on a tax RENEWAL for Special Education District #1 to be collected for a period of ten years, beginning in 2017 and ending in 2026, for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining or operating the facilities of the District.
Voters in Lafourche Parish Council District 5 will elect a new councilman. Voters there will decide between James Honore’ Bourgeois, Republican, and Holly “Scooter” LeBouef, no party.
