Duet indicted for pair of South Lafourche murders
THIBODAUX – A Gray man was indicted by a Lafourche Parish Grand Jury Monday for a pair of murders, which occurred in the South Lafourche area last November.
Dayton Duet, 20, was indicted for two counts of second-degree murder in the killings, the first of which occurred on November 4, 2016, the second three days later. Both killings occurred in the South Lafourche area.
First Assistant District Attorney Kristine Russell, who presented the case to the grand jury, said that both counts were included in the same bill of indictment, and that the State plans to try both homicide cases together.
Second-degree murder carries a mandatory punishment of life in prison without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on both counts Tuesday at 9 a.m. before the Hon. Christopher Boudreaux. Following his indictment, the defendant was ordered held without bond by the Hon. Walter I. Lanier, III.
