Detectives Investigating Multiple Department Store Shoplifting Thefts
Rewards are being offered in multiple shoplifting crimes that occurred at two Wal-Mart stores in the parish. Several items of electronic merchandise were stolen in each incident.
On July 22, deputies responded to shoplifting complaints at the Wal-Mart store located at 16759 Hwy. 3235 in Galliano.
Through investigation, investigators learned that on July 19, a male subject stole six (6) computer tablets after prying open a locked case in the electronics section of the store.
Detectives also learned the same male subject returned to the store on July 22 and stole six (6) laptop computers after severing a locking mechanism on the area where the laptops were kept.
Based on surveillance photos, the subject is believed to be a middle-aged man who was driving a white pickup truck.
In another separate incident, on Tuesday, August 13, deputies responded to a shoplifting complaint at the Wal-Mart store located at 4858 Hwy. 1 in Raceland. Store employees indicated they discovered empty packages that contained various items of electronic merchandise.
Detectives learned the subject was captured by surveillance cameras, and they are now attempting to identify him based on that footage.
Anyone who can identify the suspects in these photos, or anyone with information on these crimes, is asked to contact Bayou Region Crime Stoppers. Tipsters can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward up to $1,000 in cash if the information given leads to an arrest.
