Construction begins on Reach D2 of Lockport to Larose Levee Project
Work has begun on a project to rehabilitate and lift a flood protection levee near the Larose Pump Station, part of the Lockport to Larose levee project.
With joint funding from an Intergovernmental Agreement with the State of Louisiana through the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority, the NLLD is moving forward with an interim plan to rehabilitate approximately 3,900 linear feet of flood protection, followed by the lifting of 5,500 feet of flood protection levee to a construction grade elevation of 7 ½ feet above sea level.
The project’s work area is from the Larose Pump Station at the GIWW going up the bayou to a point just over a mile to the west.
Womack and Sons Construction Group, Inc. was awarded a 240-day contract in the amount of $729,352 as the lowest responsible bid for the project and was authorized to begin work on August 1.
Picciola and Associates, Inc. is the project engineer.
