Collins will reign over Galliano’s Krewe of Athena

The Galliano-based all-female Krewe of Athena, now in its fifth year, will roll on Friday, February 5 beginning at 7 p.m. along the traditional route through the town of Golden Meadow.

Reigning as Krewe of Athena Queen V is Kathy Collins.

Collins is the wife of Farrell Collins, Sr. and the mother of Farrell (F.J.) Collins, Jr. and Chasity Collins and Keegan Collins. Queen Kathy is the grandmother of Shaylin, Jayven, and Bryce Collins. This year’s theme is Krewe of Athena – Anything Goes 2016. Riders will be in costumes representing a wide variety of things. Each float was able to choose anything they wanted to be this year.

The court consists of maids Chasity Collins, Alora Verdin, Harley Lee and Shaylin Collins. Dukes are Jayven Collins and Brycen Collins.

Krewe of Athena’s board consists of president Sue Cheramie, vice president Mary G. Evans, secretary Donna Cheramie, treasurer Laura Guidry and reporter Gwen Bradberry. Representatives at large are Nicole Cheramie, Gloria Cheramie, Marilyn W. Blanchard, Debbie Gisclair, Della Danos and Tanya Danos.
