The Galliano-based Krewe of Athena would like to announce their 2018 Queen Athena VIII, Sue Cheramie. On September 15, the all-female Krewe of Athena held their 8th annual queen announcement party at the Larose Civic Center.
Queen Athena VIII, Sue Cheramie, is the daughter of the late Norah and Lorida Dufrene. Queen Sue is married to Harris Cheramie, Sr. She is the mother of Chuckie Cheramie and wife Kelly, Chas Cheramie and wife Nicole, and Norah Cheramie and wife Donna.
Queen Sue is the grandmother of Chase Michael Cheramie, Katie C. Boudreaux, Alexis Cheramie, Alanie Cheramie, Norah John Cheramie, Lynn Cheramie, and Nicky Cheramie. She is the great-grand mother of Grayson Boudreaux.
Krewe of Athena’s theme for 2018 is “Krewe of Athena Celebrates Louisiana Culture”.
Athena will parade through the town of Golden Meadow on March 1, 2019. Queen Sue will lead the parade on the queen’s float followed by 17 floats with riders dressed in costume representing Louisiana and its culture.
Krewe of Athena Queen VIII, Sue Cheramie, will be accompanied by her grandchildren, her great-grandson, and her cousin, Patrick LaCoste on the queens float.
Krewe of Athena is presently in its 8th year of parading. Board members consist of President, Sue Cheramie; Vice President, Mary Evans; Secretary, Donna Cheramie; Treasurer, Laura Guidry; and Reporter, Gwen Bradberry. Representatives at large are Gloria Cheramie, Nicole Cheramie, Debbie Gisclair, Tanya Danos, Della Danos, and Marilyn W. Blanchard.
Float captains are Debbie Gisclair, Mary Evans, Donna Cheramie, Laura Guidry, Gwen Bradberry, Tanya Danos, Della Danos, Mary Plaisance, Genesta Gisclair, Shannon Thibodaux, Alexa Cheramie, Torey Terrebonne, Chasity Collins, Bonnie Collins, Jill Duplantis and Renetta DeRosia.
