Cheramie promoted to rank of Colonel
Riley J. Cheramie, Jr., 46, from Golden Meadow was promoted to the rank of Colonel in the U.S. Army, effective March 1st. Riley has served as a logistics officer with the Army for over 23 years, receiving two bronze star medals for distinguished service while deployed to Iraq with two tours.
He is currently attending the U.S. Army Senior Service College (War College) at Carlisle Barracks, PA, pursuing a Masters of Strategic Studies. Upon degree completion in June, Riley will be assigned to the U.S. Transportation Combatant Command with duty at the Pentagon with the Department of Defense Joint Staff, Washington D.C. Prior to attending the Army War College, Riley has served as a strategic planner in the Department of the Army, Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army, Pentagon.
Riley has commanded Army organizations in the Netherlands and Germany. He obtained a Masters of Procurement and Acquisition Management from Webster University, St. Louis, MO and a Bachelors in History from Nicholls State University.
Riley is married to Laura Pennison Cheramie of Morgan City and has two children, Tristan (17) and Leah (15). They currently reside in northern Virginia.
