Central Lafourche’s athletic director resigns
Travis Douglas, Central Lafourche High School’s athletic director, announced his decision to resign last Tuesday. His last day at the school was Friday.
Douglas served as a teacher and coach at Central Lafourche for the last seven years. He served one season as head football coach in 2011, leading the Trojans to 1-9 overall and 1-5 in District 7-5A. He stepped down as football coach in May 2012 to move into the athletic director job, which is a position he has held since.
Douglas, a former football player at Central Lafourche and Nicholls State University, said he has accepted a new job in the private sector, which he mentioned was "a better situation for my family."
Central Lafourche principal Chris Kimball said he will start the process of hiring a new athletic director within the next few weeks.
Along with looking for a new athletic director, Kimball said he will also be busy trying to fill vacant head boys and girls basketball positions at the school.
Former boys basketball coach Robert Brisco was relieved from his duties at the end of a 5-22 overall season this year.
Former Central Lafourche girls’ basketball coach Brett Smith resigned last week to take a teaching and coaching job at East Thibodaux Middle School.
