Central Lafourche hires new football coach
Central Lafourche’s football program has found a new head coach.
Keith Menard, the former Catholic-New Iberia coach, is leaving there after three seasons as the Panthers head coach. Menard also coached at Rayne, Sacred Heart-Ville Platte, Many and at Central-Baton Rouge.
Chosen from five finalists, the position became available after former coach John Callahan resigned six games into the 2012 season.
The Trojans were 3-3 at the time Callahan resigned and finished the season 3-6.
Menard, who has had success everywhere he has coached, is the fifth head coach for the Trojans in four years.
He was named the 2008 Class 2A Coach of the Year at Many when he led the program to an 11-2 season and a trip to the quarterfinals.
The last time the Trojans made the playoffs was in 2009.
