Car insurance rates in Louisiana are highest in the country
Louisiana is no. 1, but not in a good way. According to insurance shopping website Insure.com, Louisiana has the highest average car insurance rates in the nation, followed by Michigan and Georgia, according to website’s annual state-by-state comparison of insurance premiums.
Maine enjoys the least expensive car insurance rates, followed by Iowa.
Louisiana's problem, compared to the rest of the country, according to Insure.com, is that drivers here who get in accidents file more bodily injury claims than drivers in other states.
Also, car accident lawsuits for less than $50,000 go before elected judges, who it says tend to side with consumers more than insurers.
