Caddo Parish detective makes arrest in 35-year-old homicide

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A Shreveport man is jailed on a second-degree murder charge in a homicide that occurred 35 years ago.

Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator, in a news release, said the U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force arrested 62-year-old Jimmy Lee Tigues on Monday at a Shreveport home.

Tigues was booked in the death of 29-year-old Robert Earl French, whose body was found by a motorist Aug. 1, 1980. French had been shot multiple times in what Detective Terry Richardson described as a drug-related crime.

Shreveport Police originally investigated, but the case went cold. During Richardson's investigation of other cold cases, he learned information on several unsolved murders. After re-interviewing persons connected to French's case, Richardson obtained a warrant for Tigues' arrest.

It was unknown whether Tigues has an attorney who could comment.
