After serving the south Lafourche area for more than 33 years, Dr. George Perry of the South Lafourche Veterinary Clinic, has decided to retire in order to spend more time with his grandchildren.
He recently sold his practice to doctors Chris and Alex Baudy, a husband and wife couple from New Orleans who each have five years under their belt caring for animals.
“The opportunity to become the new owners presented itself when Dr. Perry decided to retire. My husband Chris and I are very excited to get to know and serve the people and their pets in this wonderful community,” said Dr. Alex Baudy.
All of the records and information from Dr. Perry have been passed along to the new owners, who are now treating former and new clients. Both doctors treat typical pets such as dogs and cats and Dr. Alex also treats exotic animals including small birds, small mammals, reptiles, wildlife and more.
In the future, the doctor duo plans to update the practice and improve veterinary care by offering advanced diagnostics and imaging as well as boarding and grooming options.
South Lafourche Veterinary Clinic currently offers canine and feline wellness checkups, spaying and neutering, advanced and cosmetic surgery, vaccinations and preventatives as well as emergency care.
The new owners are excited to be able to bring quality medicine at an affordable cost to the community.
The husband and wife veterinary team have saved three local pets’ lives during emergency situations and have treated a plethora more during their two weeks of ownership.
“We look forward to extending the lives of and caring for the furry, feathered or scaly babies in the south Lafourche community,” said Alex.
Doctors Chris and Alex have two young daughters and currently live in New Orleans. In the future, they plan on purchasing a home in the area so they can be closer to the clinic.
Dr. Alex is a native of Port Arthur, Texas. She is a graduate of the Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine. She began her veterinary career in a rigorous small animal rotating internship at Blue Pearl Veterinary Partners in Tampa, Florida, and then went on to practice small animal and exotic medicine for three years. She is the Medical Director and Owner of South Lafourche Veterinary Clinic.
Dr. Chris is from New Orleans. His previous experience includes working as an Emergency and Critical Care veterinarian for the past four years and a general practice veterinarian for one-year prior. He loves to interact with clients and keep them informed about preventative care and treatment options.
The clinic is still located at 111 West 132nd Street in Cut Off and also has the same phone number, 985-632-4500. The practice is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
South Lafourche Veterinary Clinic has a facebook page operated by the doctors on which they share useful information for pet owners as well as tidbits of information about their own lives. You can visit the page at www.facebook.com/southlafourcheveterinaryclinic.
