A mass of Christian burial was held at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose for Brozena Doucet Barker, 89, a native of Golden Meadow and resident of Cut Off, who passed away on March 5, 2015.
She is survived by daughters, Marie B. Shows of Cut Off, Joelle B . England and husband Kirk of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; son, Mark A. Barker of Cut Off; grandchildren, Thomas and wife Hanna, James and wife Loreal, Clint and Eron Barker, Stephen and wife Ashley Shows, Paul and wife Nora England; great grandchildren, Raven Shows, Hailey and Nathan Barker and Natalia England; step great grandchildren, Logan Ledet, Treve, Trendon and Tia Bellanger.
She was preceded in death by husband, Warren S. Barker, Jr.; parents, Adam and Noemie Doucet; sisters, Verna Dufrene and Velma Duet; brothers in law, George Duet and Oneidas Dufrene; grandson, Cody England; brothers, Adam Jr., Irby, Ervis, George and Alton Doucet.
She and her husband operated Barker’s Hardware & Nursery for over 40 years. She was a homemaker at the same time. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Church Choir for many years, member of the Ladies Alter Society, member of the Holy Name Society of the Holy Rosary Church. She did clerical work for most of her life. She was commissioned as a Notary Public in 1990 and was still active until the end. She was a member of the Louisiana Notary Association and the American Council of Notaries Public.
She loved music and enjoyed singing. Besides the church choir she sang with Sweet Adeline’s International for 17 years. She was also an avid reader and above all she enjoyed her family. She was of the Catholic faith.
Interment was in Holy Rosary Mausoleum.
Falgout Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
