Lockport Chief of Police Warren Vedros announced the arrest of a Raceland woman who allegedly attacked an ex-boyfriend early Thursday morning after breaking into his home. Sara Wainwright (W/F, D.O.B. 04/21/82) of 302 Dantin Street is also charged with property damage after allegedly shattering a truck window while exiting the property.

Just after 4 a.m. on Thursday, December 26, officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Francis Street in Lockport in reference to a battery and home invasion. Upon arrival, deputies learned Sara Wainwright had entered the residence without permission and had allegedly struck the male victim several times with her fists while he was lying in bed. The man then escorted the woman outside the residence, but before leaving the property, she allegedly picked up a glass bottle from the ground and threw it at a truck parked on the property, striking and shattering the rear window.

Officers later made contact with Wainwright on Myrtle Drive in Lockport and she was placed under arrest for Home Invasion, Domestic Abuse Battery and Simple Criminal Damage to Property. She was transported to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux where she is being held in lieu of $6,500 bond as set by Judge F. Hugh Larose.
