Action taken at Dec. 12 Parish Council meeting


The following is a rundown of action taken Tuesday by the Lafourche Parish Council in its regular meeting. All votes were unanimous unless otherwise noted.

-- recognized Linda Doucet as Employee of the Month and Julie Verret and Danielle Adams as “WOW” recipients for November (Jerry Jones absent)

-- passed an ordinance installing 15 mph “Speed Limit” signs on West 135th Street in Galliano (Jones absent)

-- passed an ordinance amending and reenacting the Lafourche Parish code of Ordinances as it pertains to Recreation District Advisory Boards (Jones absent)

-- proposed an ordinance providing for a 2017 Supplemental Appropriation within the 2018 Operations and Maintenance Budget to adjust for year-end projections (Jones absent)

-- proposed an ordinance providing for a Supplemental Appropriation within the 2017 Operations and Maintenance Budget to de-obligate the Bayou Lafourche Saltwater Control Structure Project (Jones absent)

-- approved an agreement with Arthur J. Gallagher Benefit Services for employee health coverage with Blue Cross Blue Shield of LA and Cobra Benefits effective January 1, 2018 (Daniel Lorraine and James Bourgeois abstained)

-- passed a resolution requesting the Administration to pay the Town of Golden Meadow for the Golden Meadow Seawall Flood Protection Project in the amount of $100,000

-- passed a resolution requesting the Administration to request/receive sponsorship for their items from the council member whose district is affected by the item

-- passed a resolution renewing the agreement between Lafourche Parish Government and Arthur J. Gallagher Risk Management Services, Inc., to provide various insurance coverages for the parish

-- passed a resolution approving an agreement between Lafourche Parish Government and Laris Insurance Agency, LLC, to provide commercial property, scheduled equipment/inland marine and boiler and machinery coverage (Lorraine against and Bo Melvin abstained)

-- passed a resolution approving an agreement between the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and Lafourche Parish Government for $1,294,882.78 to elevate eight properties in the parish

-- passed a resolution approving Louisiana Housing Corporation Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) contract from 10/1/2017 to 9/30/2019 (Lorraine abstained)
