39th Annual French Food Festival Set For This Weekend

It’s that time of year again … time for the annual French Food Festival on the grounds of the Larose Regional Park. This year the Festival begins on Thursday night with a concert featuring former lead singers of the popular bands Boston and Bad Compan

The Larose Civic Center is gearing up for the 39th Annual French Food Festival (FFF) beginning Thursday, October 25 through Sunday, October 28, starting with an awesome concert on Thursday to fun filled activities all weekend long.

Come by and see one of the top twenty Louisiana Festivals you just can not miss, right here on the bayou.

Ready to run? The FFF Bridge Run is back again. This year the run will be benefitting Troop C Grant A Wish Foundation in honor of Dylan Danos and the Larose Civic Center. This will be a 3.2 + mile Run/Walk starting at the Larose Library, to Hwy. 308, up and over the Intercoastal bridge, making a U-turn past the Larose Truck Stop (crossing the highway, vehicles have the right of way) and going back over the bridge, E. 7th St. to E. 5th St. and returning to the library.

Don’t forget to register on Sunday, October 28 at 12:15 p.m. for the FFF Dance Contest. Registration forms will be in the information booth under the pavilion. See you there!

It’s also not too late to purchase a raffle ticket for your chance to win up to $7,000 in prizes. Tickets are $25 each of 5 for $100. Call the office at 985-693-7355, or stop by to purchase yours. Drawing will be under the tent at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 28.

Register now for the FFF Cake Baking and Decorating contest sponsored by local Girl Scout’s celebrating 100 years. Open to ages 5 and older. Registrations must be in by 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 27. Judging will begin at 1:45 p.m. Support your park with something sweet. For more information call the LCC office.

The Art Show and Contest will once again be sponsored by Les Artiste du Bayou and will consist of great displays from local artists, along with demonstrations of paintings with different mediums, stamping, oyster shell painting and more. Pre-registration is a must. Call for more information.

Prepare now for the Trick or Treat and Costume Contest. The kid’s costume contest is back again on Sunday, October 28 at 2 p.m. Ages 0-4, 5-8, and 9 & up. Don’t forget your candy bag. Trick or treating booth to booth will begin after the contest.

The Mid-South Pro Tour Bull Riding Finals will be held on Saturday, October 27 at 5 p.m. during the Festival at the Larose Civic Center. Don’t forget seating is on a first come first serve basis with free admission to all. You don’t want to miss this action packed event!

A 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will also be held this year. Registration will be from 9 a.m. till 9:45 a.m. in the Larose Civic Center gym. Games will begin at 10 a.m. Age groups include boys and girls 8-10, 11-13, 14-16, and 17 & up. The cost to enter the tourney is $30 per team. Prizes will be awarded.
